rosa is a solo project of robert steennis, who lives in arnhem, the netherlands. there he built his home recording studio, studio rosa, and began recording music in 2023. the studio was built in a pragmatic way, with the idea of starting to record and improving through the recording process.
this came after a long pause of more than ten years without making music. during this time, he focused on other parts of life; finding love and discovering the joy of a working life.
before that, he made lots of music in different formations. with people who later became friends. his first band was called eavesdrop, which created abstract, dreamy music. they performed often and recorded two eps.
after the long pause, he returned to writing music, using old melodies he had created during his time with eavesdrop and combining them with new material. after building a collection of songs, it was time to make a record. to do so, he worked together with march, known from the albums > march and > second / what about the boys. march joined the project by contributing bass, drums, and electric guitar recorded at studio majeur7.
this all resulted in rosa’s debut album > keep your mind out of it. the music fits within a singer-songwriter indie style; with honest, fragile vocals and subtle guitar picking.
